CANDIDATE FOR BEST SHORTFILM

“Anticlimax” combines the harshness of David Lynch’s oniric cinema and the acidity of American Beauty.

Anticlimax

The story is born from the roller coaster of emotions that comes with leaving a person with those you have shared for many years of your life.

SYNOPSIS

Jaime and Rocío, now in their fifties, got married in their twenties. Their life has settled into a routine and they have a lot of passion because the husband disappeared. But they never talk about it openly, they have never been able to face reality.

A night that seems like she’s still there, she’s still asleep and enjoying the sun. Rocío dreams that she is young again and that she meets a very attractive boy with whom she has sex in a censor. Jaime’s love is pure nostalgia: the summer of 1992, just the same day he met Rocío. It so happens that the two begin to talk in their sleep. This causes each one to unconsciously perceive the other’s phrases and the integrity in their own dream.

As a result, both appear with their current age and appearance in the other’s dream, altering them for better or worse. The climax will come in the subconscious of both, when their respective dreams merge into one, on the beautiful beach next to a lighthouse where they kissed for the first time. Then they will have to face that harsh reality, the truth that they are not able to face while awake. The anticlimax will come upon waking up, when the lighthouse becomes an alarm clock and Rocío and Jaime must open their eyes once and for all to never be the same again.
